Poker has the advantage of giving the player individual control over his decisions. There is always the option to fold the cards at any time when things are bad. With sports though, you can't take part of your bet back when the wrong team takes a big lead. Once you select your teams and put your money down, an infinite number of factors take control.
No matter what the odds makers and experts predict, the teams will still have to play the game and, in sports, anything can happen. Upsets happen every day. Acts of God will cause a sports gambler to pull his hair out. Athletes will get hurt. The weather may change at halftime. Fluke happenings have affected the outcome of countless sporting events over the years. These kinds of variables are what a gambler has to deal with. It takes a special person to ride that roller coaster for a living. Even the poker player, who holds some semblance of control over his fate, must not be faint of heart. There's a reason they call it gambling. The line between the gambler leaving the casino with a wallet full of cash and the gambler standing in the rain with his pockets turned out is thinner than you think. The professional gambler is the one that can withstand the rainy days by swaying the odds in his favor with skill and experience.
